At Global Positive Links, each month we pause to reflect on the themes that shape conscious leadership. In July, we explored Presence — the power of showing up fully. August invites us into a Ripple Effect of Trust.
Small acts spark big change. A note of encouragement, a moment of listening, a perspective welcomed — each becomes a link that strengthens connection, culture, and flourishing. This newsletter gathers our August reflections into one page, reminding us that leadership is not only about strategy, but about the everyday choices that inspire others to grow.

Answer to the Quiz
What’s Coming Next at Global Positive Links
Next in the Authentic Leadership Series, we shift from self‑leadership to intentional leadership. The practice of choosing direction rather than being carried by pace. On October 6, we’ll explore how leaders create clarity and focus in environments that reward constant motion.
If this first session has stirred something in you, a desire to slow down, to lead with more clarity, or simply to reconnect with yourself you are not alone. Many leaders are feeling the pace of the year and sensing the need for a steadier, more intentional way forward.
We would love you to join us as we begin this journey together.
Remaining Relevant in The 21st Century
Creating Environments Where Trust Is Felt
The world of work is changing faster than most of us can keep up with.
Technology evolves. Artificial intelligence reshapes how we work. Expectations shift. New skills become necessary almost overnight.
Yet amid all this change, I believe one thing is becoming more important, not less: TRUST
Remaining relevant in the 21st century isn't simply about keeping up with technology or knowing the latest leadership model. It's about creating relationships where people trust us enough to think differently, speak honestly, challenge ideas and navigate uncertainty together.
And trust isn't built through a title or position.
It's built in the small moments.
Do I do what I say I will do?
Can I admit when I don't know?
Do I listen to understand, or listen to respond?
Can someone disagree with me without risking the relationship?
When things go wrong, do I look for someone to blame or something to learn?
In a world where information is instantly available and AI can increasingly provide answers, perhaps our greatest value as leaders will be found somewhere else, in the quality of the human experience we create around us.
Because people may respect what we know.
But they trust who we are.
And when trust is present, something powerful becomes possible: people stop protecting themselves and begin contributing themselves.
Perhaps remaining relevant isn't about having all the answers for what's next.
Perhaps it's about becoming someone others trust enough to discover what's next TOGETHER..
A question to consider:
What am I doing today that gives others a reason to trust me tomorrow?

Spotlight:
This Month’s Experience
We ended our last series on Presence the first week of August and then jumped straight into Trust.
Trust is not rebuilt by words alone, but by the courage to feel, to see, and to mend — beginning with ourselves and extending outward, one choice at a time.
Resources & Reflections
Every act of kindness has the power to create a ripple of positive change. Small gestures can inspire countless more.
Reflection: What small act could you do today that might make a lasting difference in someone else’s life?
Positive Chain Reaction
Aug 5
Trust rarely grows in urgency. It grows in presence. Many leaders believe they need to move faster — respond, decide, fix. Yet the leaders we remember most often slowed the moment down. They listened before speaking, noticed what wasn’t being said, and helped people feel seen before asking them to perform.
Reflection: When people leave a conversation with you, do they feel heard?

Connection creates belonging. Belonging inspires contribution. We all want to know that we matter — not because of our title or achievements, but because someone chose to listen, include us, and value what we bring. Genuine connection changes how we work together.
Reflection: Who could feel more seen because of a conversation with you this week?

Different perspectives strengthen decisions. Curiosity unlocks innovation. The best ideas rarely come from one person. They emerge when people feel safe enough to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and build on one another’s thinking.
Reflection: Whose perspective could help you see something differently this week?

Closing Thought
August reminds us that trust, connection, and innovation are strengthened by the chain reactions sparked through everyday kindness and curiosity. Each link we create strengthens the whole.
The Next Link Awaits…
Behind The Scenes
A Reflection:
Without the role or title, what part of yourself do you most want to carry forward into your next chapter?
When the Role Ends, Who Are You?
Sally Sng on the quiet work of transition and the identity waiting on the other side of a title
I walk alongside senior professionals as they move from a hard-won professional identity toward whatever comes next. For most of a career, we are known by what we do - the title on the email signature, the seat at the table, the calendar that fills itself. It is a comfortable shorthand, for others and, over time, for ourselves. And then a chapter closes: a retirement, a restructure, a decision to leave. The title falls away, and a quieter question surfaces in its place: if I am not the role, who am I? This is the work I do in collaboration with The Courage Chapter, helping senior professionals pivot from fulfilling careers to their second chapters in life.
It helps to name what is happening. William Bridges distinguished change as the external event from transition, and the slower inner reorientation that follows. Change can happen in a day; transition takes as long as it takes, beginning with an ending and a stretch of in-between where the old self has to loosen its grip and the new one has not yet arrived. It is in that unsettled middle that people most often feel lost, angry, sometimes doubtful and where the right support matters most.
I do not sit with them from theory. I have walked this path myself. I know from the inside the disorientation of a title falling away, the quiet grief and loss of footing when the work that defined me simply stops. It is why I believe, having lived it, that people arriving at this edge already carry what they need: they have weathered enormous change across their lives, and this is simply another transition, once they are willing to change the lens and give themselves permission to dream.
From there, the work becomes personal. We look at the mental models a person carries, many inherited long before a career began - the quiet scripts about worth, achievement and belonging our family of origin hands us, running unexamined. Naming them is the first freedom. Using the Wheel of Life from positive psychology, we widen the frame beyond work to relationships, health, purpose and contribution - the whole architecture of a life a demanding career may have crowded out. And because a next chapter is rarely something we can reason our way into, we make room for imagination: with the images from Points of You, a person can see and feel a future that words alone won't reach, visualising who they are becoming before they can fully explain it.
What I have come to believe is that this stage of life is not a diminishment but an invitation to author an identity that is chosen rather than assigned, and richer for it. The role ending is not the end of the story, very often, it is where the more honest chapter begins.
